Gypsum boards from waste material: a cost effective process
Waste gypsum boards contain up to 10 wt% water, which needs to be removed at the rotating drum dryer. The dry gypsum is led to a ball mill to reduce the particle size to create a d 50 of 0,1 mm. The very fine material is transported to the calciner. In the calciner gypsum dihydrate is converted to gypsum hemihydrate, which is also known as stucco.
